Thank you for supporting the Lee County Alabama Disaster Training Institute in Opelika, Alabama. We were pleased to provide this training. Whether you attended just one class, or stayed all week, we were pleased to have your participation and made it our goal to provide you with an exceptional learning experience.
It doesn't matter if you are a seasoned disaster responder or you are just starting out, there was something for everyone at the Disaster Training Institute. Our Instructors had a wealth of knowledge and expertise and we are proud that they chose to share their experiences with you through the Lee County Institute.
Over 80 students joined us for the Institute from all over the Southeast United States. We hope you had a good experience. Plans are in the works now for a 2009 Institute that will be bigger and better than ever.
Our sincere thanks go out to Southern Union State Community College, our host for the Institute. Classes were held at the Southern Union Community College Opelika Campus located at 1701 Lafayette Pkwy., Opelika, AL in the Health Sciences Building, which is on the corner of Lafayette Pkwy. (also known as Fox Run Pkwy.) and Samford Ave.
Located just 50 miles east of our State Capitol in Montgomery, Alabama and close to the Georgia State line, we feel our community is centrally located in the South East and easily accessible. Visitors can relax and enjoy our area lakes, shops, museums, and golf (including Grand National, which is on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail).
Marty Nelson is our Chapter Emergency Services Coordinator and coordinated the Disaster Training Institute. Email him or call us at 334-749-9981 if you have any questions or comments about the Institute.
