The 3rd Annual Harley Davidson give away to benefit the Lee County Alabama Red Cross was held on Saturday, May 17. This year we gave away a black 2008 Heritage Softail Classic. Thanks to everyone who supported this event and to Big Swamp Harley Davidson for hosting it!
Donors who made a financial gift of $100 or more to the Lee County Alabama Red Cross between January 20, 2008 and May 17, 2008 received a ticket and were be entered into the drawing to win the Harley Davidson. Only 332 tickets were in the drawing the day of the event.
Donations were made and tickets received at Big Swamp Harley Davidson in Opelika,AL; Chattahoochee Harley Davidson in Columbus, GA; and at the Lee County Red Cross office in Opelika, AL.
The drawing began at 3:00 p.m on Saturday, May 17 at Big Swamp Harley Davidson. It was a reverse drawing, meaning that the last ticket drawn was be deemed the grand prize winner. The last ticket was # 295 and belonged to Kohler Collier of Auburn. Collier was not present at the drawing but was called and notified minutes after his ticket was drawn. He made plans to be at Big Swamp Harley Davidson when the doors opened at 12:00 noon on Sunday, May 18 to see his prize!
Red Cross staff were at Big Swamp Harley Davidson in Opelika starting at 9:00 a.m. and throughout the drawing. We had music, food, games and fun for the whole family. We still have a limited number of commemorative
t-shirts left for just $10 each.
2007 Drawing Results:
Another lucky winner drove away on a brand new Harley Davidson Road King FLHR. Kathryn Guthrie could not believe her ears when her number was the last one called, making her a winner of the grand prize. The prize was given away on Saturday, March 17, 2007at Big Swamp Harley Davidson in Opelika, Alabama.
The reverse drawing began at 3:00 p.m. We drew every number until we got down to the last one -- # 107, our lucky winner! There was music, food, prizes, "bike games", face painting and more. We also had a poker run bike ride.
Our 2006 winner, Walden Bass of Montgomery, Alabama was the first person to purchase a ticket for the 2007 drawing. He was present for the event and drove his winnings - a 2006 Harley Davidson Road King - over to show everyone. He stayed to the end and congratulated Kathryn on her big win. The two posed for photos together.
For the 2008 drawing, Walden Bass was also present and his ticket remained in the final five of the drawing!
